Staying in the industry with a different end-game

Like probably many people here, I originally did a finance degree for the hopes of eventually breaking in to HF/AM/S&T.

Now, after a couple of years post graduation i've lost interest in eventually managing people's money and no longer want to reach that goal.

The thing is however, after working at various financial services firms i'm still very much interested by market/portfolio risk, market data and pretty much anything capital markets related.

I also have pretty comprehensive programming skills (backed with an MS in IT that I did out of interest), but don't want to make the transition to IT or quantitative finance.

What sort of roles should I be going for that keeps me close to capital markets but isn't necessarily seen as a path to eventually making investment decisions or sell-side/sales related?

So far these seem to be the most relevant to what i'm looking for:

- Performance analyst
- Data analyst
- Market risk analyst

What would be the eventual end game for these roles?

Is there any other kind of roles I should be looking for, given my situation and also tech skills?
