Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's how you can approach securing an off-cycle internship after graduation:
Focus on Off-Cycle Opportunities: Off-cycle internships are a great option for graduates who missed out on return offers or full-time roles. These internships are typically 3-6 months long, available year-round, and often have high conversion rates into full-time roles if you perform well. They are particularly common in London and can be a strong stepping stone into S&T or related fields.
Networking is Key: Networking is crucial for off-cycle recruiting. Start by reaching out to your existing network, including alumni, former colleagues, and professionals you connected with during your internships. Use LinkedIn to send personalized connection requests and emails to professionals in S&T, asset management, and equity research. Be direct about your interest in off-cycle roles and ask for advice or referrals.
Tailor Your Applications: Highlight your S&T internship experience, your strong academic performance (1.1 expected from a target school), and your corporate finance internships. Emphasize your passion for the role and your willingness to start immediately. Off-cycle roles often require candidates to hit the ground running, so showcasing your readiness and relevant experience is critical.
Prepare for Technical Interviews: Off-cycle interviews can be more challenging as they often target candidates with prior experience. Make sure your technical skills are sharp, especially in areas like market analysis, financial modeling, and trading strategies. Use resources like the WSO Elite Modeling Package to refine your skills.
Be Persistent and Strategic: Off-cycle recruiting can be competitive, and roles are not always widely advertised. Keep an eye on job boards, company websites, and WSO forums for openings. Additionally, consider reaching out to smaller firms or regional offices, as they may have less structured hiring processes and be more open to off-cycle candidates.
Stay Motivated: Rejection is part of the process, but persistence pays off. Keep applying, networking, and improving your skills. Remember, many professionals have successfully transitioned into full-time roles through off-cycle internships.
By combining targeted networking, strong applications, and technical preparation, you can significantly improve your chances of landing an off-cycle internship and ultimately securing a full-time role in S&T or a related field.

ik it's deleted now but it's v difficult to get an OC (in IBD at least) w/o a summer
.
if you didn't get interviews for S&T this year, something must have gone wrong with your CV in my view because the hiring for London was weird this year in a unique way but still doable if you knew what was going on.
You can still do OCs maybe in S&T but it will be desk specific.
IBD OCs (of which there are more of) are going to be hard to get with an S&T background like yours.
London doesn't really do OCs by linkedin or networking: it's just apply and hope for the best (trust me, I speak personally in that respect).
I can ping you a message though privately and discuss the specifics in more detail?
