Summer internship question
I'm currently a Freshman in a Canadian target. Recently, I managed to land an internship at big holding company's financial arm in the middle east.
It's a rotation 5 program that goes like this:
2 - 6 May - corporate finance 9 - 13 May - Private Equity 16 - 20 May - Direct investment 23 - 27 May - Investment research 30 may - 3 June - Investment advisory
Now what I was wondering is how well this kind of internship places me for investment banking summer programs for next summer?
great for a freshman, you probably won't learn a whole lot in 4 days but you'll be able to say you've experienced each role and know vaguely what they are and what you want
Gutshot, It's actually 5 days for every role.
I guess my main question is: Will this experience along with a 3.8 GPA influence banks to give me interviews?
Anything that makes you less clueless or gives you something to talk about in an interview is good.
Tradex- This internship, combined with a strong GPA and EC's will help with internships. Most people won't have a brand name company their freshman year, which it looks like you will.
What kind of Ec's are we talking about? Being active in the Finance association ?
For a Freshman, this is a great opportunity. Use it to learn as much as you can in a limited time and to absolutely network with as many professionals as you can while there. A strong GPA and this on your resume as a rising soph will definitely strengthen your resume for your soph summer. Good luck.
