Summers in IB?
I’ve heard a few times that summers in IB are usually quieter due to so many seniors taking vacations, but how is it at the analyst level?
Does the workload actually feel like less or is that just a lie I’m going to keep telling myself?
I can only really speak about my personal experience. I think it may be helpful for you. I hope it is. During my time as an analyst in investment banking, I think the summers were fairly busy times of year. I can recall my first summer as an FT IB analyst, I helped close what was at the time a marquee/well-liked transaction for the firm with a good amount of senior attention and praise. My second summer was also kinda busy but moreso on helping the firm advise new, bigger clients and helping my colleagues advance at the firm. My 3rd summer as an investment banking analyst was fairly quiet compared to the previous 2 and involved more social/mentoring stuff for the interns and new joiners. But that was also pretty busy, just not as loud noise/volume as a good amount of the work was outside of the physical office/my cube. Best wishes to you.
Ahh, the return of Ben Matan Biran. It was a good break while it lasted.
