Switching back into Finance

Hi guys,

looking for some tips on how to get back into Finance.

I am a 25 y.o. guy from a Southern European country. I have a BSc and a MSc in Finance (graduated 1.5 years ago from my Master's) and a summer internship experience in a Sales team in the Asset Management division of a BB Bank (GS, JPM, MS). My objective has always been to become a Portfolio Manager (ideally in a Multi Asset/ Macro kind of team), however I was never even called to interview for this kind of positions (both internships and graduate programs).

As I really did not like my internship (very qualitative and repetitive work) and I could not get a Portfolio Management/ Research job, after graduating I decided to get into my second-best career choice (Consulting) and I currently work in a European consulting boutique focused on the Financial Services industry. While I do find the job somewhat stimulating, I found that I am not really interested in it and I do not feel like I am suited for a Consulting/ Corporate career.

Consequently, I would like to try and get back into Finance in Asset Management or Markets. As I am very keen to go back, I would even be open for Sales positions, though my ideal roles would be something like Portfolio Management, Research or Structuring.

I am not really sure what my best alternatives are, considering that most big banks and funds tend to hire mostly at the student/ graduate level and I am no longer eligible. Should I get another Master's degree/ PhD? Start over again with an internship? Get the CFA?

In my view the best choice may be a second Master's, but I am open to any suggestions. Thanks
