Take a year off school for internships

I go to a non-target in Canada and I recently did coffee chats with VP’s of commercial banking in my province for a large bank. They told me about their internship program and that I should apply for fall recruiting of next year. The internship would be 8 months though which is a full school year. Considering the fact that I do not go to a target school and the internship (not guaranteed that I get it) is a full school year is it worth it to push my graduation date back by 1 year in order to gain commercial lending experience, and would this experience help me break into IB because I am certainly not going to get a IB internship while I am in school. Any advice towards this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
