Taking a year off college?
What the title says. In a tough spot with various personal things and a huge part of me thinks taking a year off college (currently rising sophomore) could be beneficial. I’m scared it will hurt my recruiting chances if I get asked questions about why I took a year off. For what it’s worth I have a 4.0 and good activities.
This is a non-issue, and honestly I would do it if you're in a tough spot personally. Soph year is a lot of grinding for recruiting and if you're not fully in the game, take the time off while you still can. You can't do a year off once you are already committed to an internship and the timelines that go with that.
Your resume can just say "Class of 2028" instead of "2023-2028" and that's that, no one is going to go digging into how long it took you to finish college, and even if you mentioned it no one would care. Heck, tons of people extend graduation specifically for another shot at IB, you are fine.
Thank you, I really appreciate this. Hope you had a good wknd
