Technicals - new to all of this

I got the guides etc from a friend, I’m applying to a bank soon where I have a good referral. Now all I do is just memorise the questions in the guides? I’m really sorry if this comes off as stupid lol I genuinely don’t know how the process works

If you memorize the questions, the moment they ask anything not on there you're gonna look like an idiot.

There's no magical process, you have to internalize the concepts so you're able to speak intelligently on whatever they ask. Learn, don't memorize.

Got it, thank you. Is it normal to feel like this is kinda bizarre? I think it’s partly because I don’t know much about finance - I know the basics - but it still just feels so strange idk compared to just studying academic stuff in HS and uni.. anyway so am I missing anything : trackers, resume, cover letter, study and internalize concepts from guides, keep up with news

Depends on what part of the bank you're applying to, what type of bank it is, what year you're in, among other things. You should have a mentor or clubs that you can model yourself after, the path is largely standardized nowadays.

The guides are just the beginning tbh. Most firms will ask questions off the guides to see if you really understand the concepts or just memorized the q&a's verbatim. There are a couple sites that sell interview questions i.e. marginofalpha/paribusprep that can give you a pretty good idea of what firms will ask.

Definitely go through them all, but most firms will ask techs off the guides to check if you know the concepts or if you just memorized the Q&A verbatim. ParibusPrep/MoA have question banks that have been pretty accurate to firm interviews in my experience.
