Thoughts on Citi lateral movement for return offer

Hey all, I recently got offered a summer analyst job at Citi TTS in my home country. However, I am currently studying (4th year) in another country and would love to build a career there. My initial plan is to do the intern in my home country and get a return offer in my target country (hopefully within TTS too). Is this a common thing to do? Is it possible to pull this off? I've heard about similar cases in BAML/MS, but have never heard of one in Citi.

Thank you!
