Thoughts on ms la?

Hi,

I’m at a west coast target and have accepted a tech offer at an okay-good eb. Don’t see myself working there after SA tho, as I don’t rly like the Bay Area. I was looking at other groups and MS la seemed to be interesting with their focus on gaming and media. Anyone have any thoughts on the group or tips on how to recruit?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Morgan Stanley's LA office is quite strong. They have a focus on Media, Consumer, and Gaming sectors. The office is known for a lot of coverage work with some in-house M&A. They've been involved in some cool deals, especially if you're interested in the sectors they cover.

However, it's worth noting that the work environment is quite intense. It's been described as an "absolute sweatshop" with instances of interns turning down full-time offers and analysts leaving early.

In terms of exit opportunities, they are more oriented towards Corporate Development than towards Private Equity. But remember, this is still Morgan Stanley, so take that with a grain of salt.

As for recruiting tips, networking is key. Reach out to alumni or other connections you might have in the firm. Show genuine interest in the sectors they cover and be prepared to demonstrate your knowledge and enthusiasm. Good luck!

Unfortunately, the intern or analyst program no longer exists at MS LA. They are moving all their junior bankers and interns (for full-time) to New York. Only senior bankers will be in LA going forward.
