Too late for a summer internship?

It took me a while to figure out that I wanted to do an internship this summer instead of a study abroad/service oriented international trip. It has proven difficult to find an internship. I think I am qualified and extremely motivated, but it's hard to keep looking when shooting apps out just results in dead-ends. Is it too late? Should I make other plans? Should I just start cold-calling/emailing different firms?

Formal programs are probably off the table at this point. You have a chance cold-calling boutique IBs or small buyside shops and trying to set something informal up. Your best shot is going to be networking though: get someone to make an introduction and then send a short note to get on the phone with your res. On the phone call you need to show 1) a genuine interest in their business 2) that you have done your research and understand their niche and 3) that you will be decent to talk to and will work super hard for no money.

It's never too late. Is your college or hometown around a decent sized city? Use linkedin/google/etc to find boutique companies.

Hey mate,

I'm in a similar situation. Sent a bunch of cold e-mails but it seems like majority of the firms are done hiring for the summer. I also go to school in Chicago area.
