Too old for IB internship?

So I’m currently a 26yr old junior undergrad studying finance with a minor in accounting and economics at a non-target in chicago. I started uni a little late around 23-24 yrs old and starting around this age definitely makes me feel better as I’m more intentional with my studies. However I’ve been applying to alot of internships since sophomore year and haven’t had any luck. I have a high gpa along with IB case competitions to build my financial modeling and technical skills along with credibility and still no luck with internships. I’ve been having good coffee chats too but it’s seems like theres no way I can secure actual work experience in finance before I graduate. Seeing other kids around 19-20yrs old breaking into IB with the same if not less experience than me is definitely something. Would it be worth the continuous effort to try and break into IB? What other routes would be best to take at this age?
