Transfer Student Chronicles

I'm new to this site and making myself familiar with this site and I feel out of place posting this because everyone seems to be graduating college. I'm graduating high school next week and going into a California Community College hopefully to transfer into UCLA maybe even Stanford or Harvard! We'll see...but I know I want to work for a firm or hedge fund when I get my BA and I plan on majoring in Economics with a Math emphasis, the Math/Econ Program is my best bet getting into UCLA Econ program since it's impacted and once I'm there I'm sure I can transfer within the Econ division to Business/Econ. I plan on running for student gov't and taking part in clubs as well.

I want to get a running start and I'm sure taking classes in the summer will help but I'm lost when it comes to jobs. I was thinking part-time at a bank but I'm not sure... What would be the best internship or job for me at this point?

It's difficult to land a quality internship coming from a community college. Sure, you can work as a teller at a bank, but that is worthless for your career advancement. Right now, you should focus on getting a job, saving up some money, and focusing all of your efforts on transferring to a four year university. With a perfect GPA, you have a shot at getting into a good school. Then you can start thinking about internships, networking, etc.

Keep your grades up in cc, this should be your no.1 priority. Interning Freshman year isn't necessary, but you can. Hit up PWM firms, and ask for an unpaid internship. Transfer to a good semi/target, network, keep the grades up, get junior year internship, keep grades up, Profit.
