Transferring Decision

Hey all,

So I was admitted as a transfer student to the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia, and I'm incredibly torn as to which one to go to. I realize that there are a lot of factors to consider in this process, but I've identified and elaborated on some of the highlights below.

  1. Cost is virtually identical
  2. I would be a math major at both places (math with a concentration in finance)
  3. I live in Chicago right now, and I'd want to work in either Chicago or NYC after graduation
  4. I want to get involved in trading/HF after graduation
  5. Time to graduate would be identical
  6. I don't really have close friends at either university, and I'd be starting over socially at both places
  7. At Virginia I would be a BA, at Michigan a BS

Where should I go and why? Also, this has been a highly stressful and emotional process for me, so I would really appreciate people withholding any flippant or sarcastic comments, just as a personal favor to me.

I'd pick UVA.

I'm biased. I have most of my Spanish major from credits from their program. I like the school.

To be honest I think the culture will be highly comparable, if not virtually identical. But it sounds like you're saying Michigan will give me access to NYC and Chicago, whereas UVA will almost solely give me access to NYC?
