Twin Cities- IB/PE

Just wondering if there is anyone from the MSP area that would be up for an informational interview regarding their experiences, firm, etc. I graduated from undergrad a year ago and am looking to change careers. I have the base knowledge surrounding IB, but am looking for any and all advice. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Don't hesitate to message me with any questions.

There's more finance in MSP than you might think but it's still a lot smaller than say Chicago. It's pretty tough to break in because of the size and the competition from people who have experience in larger markets looking to make a lifestyle move. Without knowing more about your background it's tough to give any good advice.

Some of the bigger sell-side firms: Piper Jaffray-decent in public finance and healthcare largely b/c of Minnesota's medical device industry. Pretty much the universal butt of jokes about non-elite boutiques. Lazard Middle-Market has a big office (maybe the HQ I forget) in Minneapolis. RBC has some equity research in Minneapolis. There are small boutiques such as Craig Hallum as well, just like in any decent sized city.

Some of the prominent buy-side firms: Whitebox: Idiosyncratic macro/value firm, founded by a pretty interesting guy Varde: Distressed/value firm with a lot of Euro/Asia-pac focus TPG's credit management arm, or part of it anyway Fox River-Cargill spinoff

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.
