Two offers - which to pick?

Hi all, I received two internship offers and I’m not sure which to pick. One is for a turnaround shop (Mutares/Aurelius/Endless) and the other one is for an MM generalist (Inflexion/Equistone/Livingbridge).

I have previous experience at a big4 and MM pe fund. I still have to do my master’s, so converting is not my highest priority.

Would greatly appreciate any insights!

Honestly - I think there are two separate questions baked into this:

  1. What do you have more intellectual interest in? Turning around businesses / likely learning more about credit or identifying and investing in stable businesses. In my opinion I think you’d learn way more in turnaround but it could be depressing as hell to be working with management teams who are in their darkest hour and firing tons of blue collar workers.
  2. What has a better culture / wlb? Succeeding in PE is inherently about career longevity, pick the firm where you think you are less likely to burn out.

The answers to the above two questions will point you in the right direction. In my opinion the answer to question 2 is more important than question 1.
