Underwriting to Relationship Management?

Hello,

I am a junior studying Finance. I got an internship offer for a Credit/Underwriting internship in New York for a top 20 bank in the US. In my career goals, I would like to work my way up to a RM position and more client facing. Is it possible to grind Underwriting and transition to an RM role?

Does it matter what business unit I am underwriting for if I want to work my way towards RM?

I originally wanted to start as a CB credit analyst but I didn't land the role, as the job market has been very competitive. Any advice?
