Verbal Offer.... wtf?

Got an offer from UBS 2 weeks ago. got a call last week on Thursday saying that there's been a hiccup with regards to ur offer and more details will follow... wtf is this? they also asked if I resigned from my currently employer, to which I replied no. Obviously I wont quit until I get the written offer.

I know hiccup means delay but what could be the hold up? Do I have the right to call HR/Person who told me/ executive director today? I want answers.

I asked him if it was anything to do with my background check and he firmly replied no.

A key person or team could have quit which might mean they don't need you anymore, they might have some sort of hiring freeze that could impact, it COULD be your background check, might be the drug test, really it could be anything.

I would absolutely feel comfortable reaching out as its been a few days. Don't be demanding though, be nice and understanding until you know for sure you're getting fucked (even then you should stay professional). You have no real power here so it's important not to burn the relationship.
