Wall Street Guide (career accelerator) Program
I'm a student doing the whole finance recruiting process. Saw an advertisement for a scholarship competition for the WSG program. I thought it'd be super helpful. The guy who ran the program, did seem like a nice guy, and the program does seem good... but it's 20k, and there is only one scholarship. 600 people applied for this one scholarship. If I would have known this before applying, I wouldn't have spend hours writing essays and doing a interview.
Also, many applicants get the news that they didn't get it... but get "offered" a scholarship which discounts it down to "only" 12k. Be weary of this opportunity, its marketed well (I'm sure it may be a good program), but its just marketing... I wouldn't call it an a opportunity. Also, past winners are just MIT/Stanford students.
Based on insights from WSO threads and user experiences, it seems the Wall Street Guide (WSG) Program is marketed as a premium career accelerator, but there are some red flags to consider:
High Cost with Limited Scholarships: The program's $20k price tag is steep, and with only one full scholarship available (and 600+ applicants), the odds are slim. The "discounted scholarship" to $12k feels more like a sales tactic than a genuine opportunity.
Targeting Elite Profiles: Past winners being from top-tier schools like MIT and Stanford suggests the program may favor candidates who already have strong profiles, which could limit its accessibility and impact for others.
Time Investment vs. Outcome: Spending hours on essays and interviews only to receive a marketing pitch for a discounted program can feel disingenuous. This is a common frustration among applicants.
Be Cautious of Marketing Hype: While the program might offer value, the aggressive marketing and pricing strategy raise questions about its true ROI, especially for students who may already have access to free or lower-cost resources.
If you're considering such programs, weigh the cost against the potential benefits. There are plenty of free or affordable resources on WSO, like the Free Financial Modeling Series, WSO Academy, and Mock Interviews, which can provide similar value without the hefty price tag. Always research thoroughly and consider alternatives before committing to high-cost programs.

Was offered 12k scholarship through WSG. Would you mind DMing me? New member due to finding this post... can't find anyone on LinkedIn who has this on profile.
