What is good networking?
I’m a sophomore at a target public school with a good GPA but no experience. Since September, I’ve been cold emailing as many alumni as I can, have had phone calls with to about 30 people, from analysts to MDs for both sophomore and junior year internships. However, part of me feels like I’m being ineffective with my approach, as I never considered if they were directly involved with recruiting. My plan was to follow up with these people every three months, and eventually ask for a resume push. Have I been doing this wrong? Or can anyone help push my resume?
Analysts/Associates imo are the sweet spot in the hierarchy because they can actually shed light on what type of work you would be doing and imo are more close to the SA recruiting process and for me personally I only talked with analysts and associates and some VP's, but the analysts/associates were the ones that ended up pushing my resume and help me get interviews and personally Idt you should directly ask rather have them offer to push ur resume- which they will if you ask the right questions related to recruiting/advice
Interesting. Are MDs not as helpful? I’ve been reached by a lot of MDs at the bigger banks and I was kind of hoping they could help me out. Do you know if anyone can push a resume. Sorry if come off as a clown, I’m just trying to make sure that I’m not wasting everyone’s time.
Anyone can push your resume, I know a couple of my friends that got interviews through networking with MDs and the higher up the hierarchy they are the more likely chance that push will lead to an interview. I only said analysts and associates are the sweet spot because I found it that they were much easier to get a long with and that leads to a higher chance of a resume push
