What to do after accepting my offer?

Hi all, I just accepted an offer for SA 2025 at Jefferies as a generalist. I haven’t done a tone of networking there and my school is no longer a core target but we still have some presence. I know I’m pretty interested in their healthcare group but that it’s crazy competitive. I have one strong connection in HC. Am I supposed to be doing anything before my generalist program (reach out for coffee chats, more networking)?

Also interested in FIG and M&A

It shouldn't hurt to express your interest. Reach out for coffee chats and network with the group to learn more about the team and their deal flow. You don't need to offer to moonlight for the team or anything, but show a genuine interest in the space and the deals they're working on.

Assuming you have a mid-summer review or similar touch base to get feedback on your experience, mention how much you like the bank and specifically the HC team. You have a strong connection there, you've been getting to know the team, and have a deep interest in the space, and if there's an opportunity to join that team you would be interested to know.

Most banks want to keep high performers and ideally match them where they'll add the most value. Also if the HC team has an opening, they'd likely prefer the intern that got good reviews and is super interested in HC vs. having to interview a bunch of randos.

Hope that helps!
