What's my market value?
I have been working as a quant analyst in the quantitative top down group (building stock screens, backtesting strategies type of role) at a Templeton/Wellington caliber AM firm since I got out of undergrad less than 2 years ago. This past year (2nd calendar year) my pay was about 115k all-in in a non-NYC city.
I was given an offer at a relatively small quantitatively driven long short equity shop (3B in AUM) with a good track record in chicago and am trying to figure out what my value is for effective comp negotiation.
Any thoughts?
I would say start with at least 95 base + 20ish sign on, but check the database on this site as it has a bunch of comps.
tried the database.. not that many data point for buyside quants with similar experience in a real research role. Anyone with experience?
I am assuming you are based out of Boston. There are many ways to negotiate pay without even looking at your experience, mention cost of living and relocation. Moving to chicago might cost you a decent amount. Pay negotiation isn't as black and white as experience, many other factors need to be considered as well.
I understand that. But it would still be helpful to see how much people with similar background are making as a sanity check.
