What's next for Canadian students wanting to make it to the US?

Currently a Canadian high school student (attending university this fall at a semi-target).

My plan was to break into IB in NYC or anywhere in the States but the visa situation means it's now impossible. Even if I didnt break in, I feel like I could have worked on Bay St. for a while before breaking in later, but now going to the US at all isn't really an option.

Finance is pretty shit in Canada, I don't want to grind to break in just to work 80+ hours/week to make ~120k CAD/year. Some people tell me things will be fixed when the US president's term is over, but it seems pretty dumb to work on Bay St. for a while if I hate it, just in hopes that I will eventually make it to the US.

For now, my plan is to just keep going and find out what I like; I want to try VC, PE, Consulting, maybe S&T, but does anyone have any advice?

TN visa issue is firm specific to EVR, everywhere else is still hiring as many Canadians as before. Pipelines outside of Ivey -> EVR still alive and well
