When does GPA stop mattering?
Title.
I didn’t prioritize academics in college, but I managed to secure a solid role after graduation. I’m a hard worker and a high performer compared to my analyst peers.
Will my low GPA be a barrier when I start looking for exits after my first year? For context, I’m not aiming for PE, but rather roles in corporate banking, private wealth management, or similar fields.
Depends on what. If still above 3.5, not a major determinant except for some MF PE shops. If below 3.5, it is a bit more of a detriment simply because many places run their processes through headhunters of robot screening which screens for GPA. Not impossible to get stuff, might have to be a bit more proactive.
