When to recruit for FT in CLT

I’m 4 weeks in my NYC SA stint, and I am convinced that NYC is not for me. With family in CLT, I’d prefer to work FT there instead of NYC. Hence to achieve this:

What would be the best path for me?

Should I start networking with different groups in CLT?

While networking, should I be outright about my intentions over email/calls?

Also, given I’m currently still interning, what would be the best context for me to reach out to different people?

Appreciate the help people, thanks.

depends on the bank for lateral, provide some context on that and people can give more useful advice. But in general yes netowork

I am looking at all banks in the area: BoFA, Wells, Jefferies, Piper, RJ, etc. In terms of Networking, would you suggest starting now and being upfront with my intentions during the process? Thanks.

if your aiming for lateralling internally than it depends on the bank you are at and how they see it. for instance, i interned at BofA/JPM Chicago and moved to NYC for FT this year, start in in June in the same bank. I did network with some folks in nyc but after i got the offer it was more a conversation with HR and when i expressed my interest they checked with the teams that needed FT and that was it. I had different groups for SA and FT. so totally depends on the needs of the groups and bank, But for some other banks it might not be that straight forward, i have anecdotally heard that EBs dont like that and wont allow it either

In general yes network with them all bc it comes down to the team and if they are hiring. but you don't have to be upfront esp. given its what week 3? wont look good if word gets backs to your team and also its too soon for a lot of people to, I know i was told July/august is a better time as they have good idea of who might not come back and i think it's still the case. and leverage your relationships if you have any that helps as well.

and goes without saying but if you don't have a return its not goanna help. make sure you get the return first and even if you don't end up getting clt, you can still easily move there with headhunters or after you start FT, its much easier to do it like that than the other way.
