Where to go from here?

I recently graduated and immediately started working for a PWM team at a respectable firm. I had previously done internships with this team and was excited to join full time.

Now 6 months in, I have become disillusioned. The comp is way below what I thought it’d be (~$25-$30k below what I thought. Which makes it impossible to live in my city.), no room for real growth, lack of intellectual stimulation and I was essentially hit with a bait and switch with regards to title and responsibilities. I currently handle part of the of trading (which I love) but as you could guess, the trading is less than exotic.

I ultimately want to go the HF route, but am looking for advice on how to move forward. S&T would be my first choice, however, I know it seldom has openings. I did a few internships in IB and despite swearing off of the industry, I am thinking about going back in (if I can find a spot).

The financial industry in my city is currently going through a pretty big purge right now so there isn’t a lot of job postings online.

I’m currently learning how to code to better position myself for S&T/HF, but any advice on how to move forward?

Feel free to PM and thanks in advance.
