Wild Idea...

I'm currently 35.

Spent my 20's pursuing various entrepreneurial ventures and traveling. Built-up a small consulting business in psychology working with busines owners, worked with a few hundred businesses directly and eventually got involved in some strategy with them. Now looking at a career switch to potentially try get to Private Equity. Have also looked at Tech sales. Have had no problem getting interviews with top tier tech businesses, and could land a starting role. But my experience in sales over the last 6 months (took some roles to experience it), hasn't been very interesting, quite the opposite, find it largely frustrating and repetitive. I'm considering trying to go Management Consulting -> Private Equity. Super difficult at this age/reasonably high risk but if I can get to Management Consulting then options would open up somewhat.

Any thoughts?

Priorities to me would be long term

financial

intellectually challenging/rewarding work

dealing with more novel problems vs the same thing repeatedly

I enjoy the investment/due diligence/evaluating companies side and also strategy.
