Will asking for a virtual superday lower my chances? Currently staying in Hong Kong.

I'm currently doing an internship in Hong Kong, which is 15+ hours away from NY and recently got invited to a superday. I was asked to fly in, but it would be extremely expensive even with the firm's accommodations and I would need to take multiple days off from work.

Will it decrease my chance of getting in if I ask them for a virtual superday b/c I feel like in-person sd's are much better to "connect" with interviewers? I bet firms were much more understanding last year just because of how serious COVID situation was. Since situations are much better now, I'm worried I'll be one of very few people who ask for one. Plus, I've seen some people not hearing back from the HR at all after asking for Skype or even a reschedule (hope this doesn't happen to me) so...

Anyone had similar experiences? or any recommendations?

I would go even if logistics are not in your side. Is a great opportunity.

Then, I'm curious, how did you attained an internship in Hongkong being from the US?
