Will messing up one interview question disaqualify me?

Hello,

Recently, I had a first-round interview which was purely behavioral. I feel like I answered every question well, but at the end they asked me why I wanted to enter that specific product group at the company. I gave kind of a BS answer and I think it showed. Is it over for me or is there still a chance I might progress through the process?

Thank you for your help.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it—while messing up a single question or two can sometimes turn out fine, you missed what appears to be a particularly important behavioral question. I wouldn’t hold out much hope but miracles can happen.
