Will not having a finance related degree even though I have 3 years of finance experience affect my changes of getting another finance position? Also need suggestions on other finance roles to look into.

graduated in Spring 2022 with a degree in Information Technology from the University of South Florida (regular state school with a 3.0 gpa) hoping to work in IT/Tech but of course the industry was beginning to crumble around that time. So I applied to an Financial Analyst position at an insurance company as they required no experience and wanted someone with an business, finance, econ, or information sciences degree. I applied even though I had no experience with finance but I was able to do great during the interview and got the job and have been working there in Miami for three years now. Pay was competitive, had great benefits and yearly raises.

The job was rough in the beginning cause of my lack of knowledge in finance and excel but I got over it by just studying what I did not know at home. The job also helped me deal with stress, deadines, mental toughness, work ethic (I used to be very lazy now I have no issue coming in early and leaving late), dealing with difficult people (sometimes horribly mean people) and became a little bit more outgoing (which is huge because I was very shy and reserved all my life). Most importantly I learned to push myself through with discipline and not just motivation.

Even though tech was my initial interest I am willing to stick it through in the finance field cause its a lot more stable right now and I am very interested in it now. I am currently applying to financial analyst and credit analyst roles.

I know I am in over my head on this but I looked into entry level roles in Investment Banking/Wealth Management at small/big banks but I already know there are certifications and licenses I need as well a track record of interning/working at prestigous places and well as attending a prestigous school and a big network which I lack so I know I have to work on that and even if I fail I am ok with that.

I also worry that since I did not orginally have a finance related degree will affect anything in any role I am interested in.

I just wanted other suggestions on other roles I should look into so I would really appreciate any input. Any constructive criticism is welcomed as well.

Thank you
