So as the SA 2020 recruitment in Europe is open, I wanted to ask you what to write in the cover letter. Especially in the paragraph about the company. It is hard to say what distinguishes the culture. I thought about writing about a deal I like + if I talked with an analyst from this bank, I would mention their name. Any thoughts on that?

Talk about how you can benefit the company and leverage your skillset which aligns with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Advice is usually why the industry (IB), why firm, why you. So if you can drop name in why firm or talk about events attended its great in why firm. Deals are also great to why firm/industry.
They don't usually read them, if your CV is good enough they wont care about it
