WSO Conf 2012 - Who would you like to see there?
Starting to create a target list of firms we would like to see there but always looking for feedback from the community. So i open the floor to who would you like to see there? Any firms? Any groups? Any people?
I will be there...maybe in a suit or maybe in a monkey suit
also dont miss out on early bird discounts as they will be ending soon
fidelity wellington citadel mckinsey bain bcg oliver wyman
will start to work on them
cert users getting a discount? :P
Upper mid-market PE shops would be nice.
names would be great so i can target
Monty, sorry for the late response. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do the shops need to be from the NYC area? That is to say, was it common for non-Houston shops that still needed to recruit to send representatives to the Energy Rodeo?
Did you begin selling tickets for this already?
link is above
Well I see this:
Ticket Type Remaining Sales End Price Fee Quantity Early MonkeyBird Special 7 tickets Ended $79.99 $2.99 N/A
So no tickets left huh?
My bad on that -- I just extended the sale and made a few more tickets available. the price is going to move up substantially once we lock in some of these panel speakers and companies, so I'd strongly advise to get in now.
Link above in original post. Keep the suggestions coming guys!
Also, any person attending will be given a 20% discount code to Blank Label so you can look sharp for the event. Blank Label is one of many WSO partners that gives us primates some pretty awesome exclusive deals: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/wall-street-oasis-discounts
Thanks, Patrick
Monty, I want to see a Comicon style "Meet the Users" of WSO panel, were a small number of hand picked monkeys are brought up on a Dias to talk about WSO, the community and how things have progressed since they joined... oh, and hilarity with absurd comments questions and blatant trolling abound during the Q&A session.
How 'bout dem apples?
that could be fun for the drinks before or after event....... what monkeys would you like to see?
Ey u no answer!
This is great I wannanananananananananana come soooooo badly, but of course i will be in SF this summer :( maybe I can get a weekend off)

I'd like to see Marcus_Halberstrom back, that guy was kick ass
Three words: Midas. Mulligan. Magoo.
Any idea what type of firms will be coming? Mostly banks or will it be a poutporri of banks/hedge funds/pe, etc.?
hahaha, or perhaps a medley or smattering
yes, likely a good mix.
midas wont come. at least to show his face haha
He can wear his mask the whole time--but maybe throw in a few decoys here and there with masks on so as to throw everyone off!
I am trying to talk to our HR department and see if I can get this listed as a recruiting event so that I can do for free.
John Meriwether
Sara Eisen
Tim Ferriss & Seth Godin
and btw monty we got you a monkey suit to wear :)
if he doesnt wear it, maybe i will. at least to the after party...that is worth the price of admission alone.

Patrick, is it possible for us to see a preliminary list of firms that have committed before signing up for the discount? It doesn't make sense for us to sign up 8 months in advance when we have no definite names yet.
Monty is working on it - did you see the list of firms he was able to get in 80 days? :-)
I'll also be throwing all of the WSO muscle behind firm recruitment and my Wharton contacts to make sure we have an impressive showing.
I am working on it with patrick and will say I am pretty sure we will have every bb and mbb there in some shape or form along with tons of smaller players most people never heard of. The bread and butter of any event like this is the networking and I can say for a fact it will be top notch. I didnt sign on to make this an avg event, I def have something to prove. With the energy rodeo as my track record i would say, odds are very good whatever firm you are looking to see will be there.
^^^ damn man I am going to find anyway possible to attend this event.
I'd love to make to this, I need networking opportunities like no other.
its kinda of funny that the amount I get paid in my my first month in SF in my internship, I might consider blowing off in 1 week coming to this event (flight from SF to NYC, living, dining, booze, babes (unless my gf comes with me) random fun, this event) Its gonna be the best week ever I cant wait!!!!
How was the 2011 one? Mustve missed the prior info..

Patrick, how high are the next incremental ticket costs?
I'd rather pay a premium for the ability to buy my ticket in the spring, but don't want to end up paying $300+ or something crazy like that.
Once the location is set would anyone be able to throw out some suggestions of (cheap) places to stay nearby? I'm not to familiar with NYC as of yet but I'd like to make a weekend of it and know what spots I should hit up afterward.
EDIT: What about big commodity shops? Cargill, Glencore, Louis Dreyfur, Archer Daniels Midland ect.
LD is in Conn so may be able to get someone. Depends on people schls
Yeah, it's way too early to make a decision on this nearly eight months out. I still haven't bought a ticket to Energy Rodeo yet.
Ha, Illini, of all people I would think that you'd be all over this deal. The price will be multiples of what it is now, although we can't say how long or how big the jumps will be at each level. Point is, it won't be getting any cheaper, and if you buy now I can pretty much guarantee you'll have more $s in the bank for many 6-packs and maybe even a few hand-gliding trips ;-)

Patrick, I hope you mean hang-gliding! haha. Hang-gliding involves flying around, on the other hand, I could only imagine "hand-gliding" involving this...
I'll put a $20 deposit down now for a $100 ticket (paying the $80 balance one month before the conference.) $80 is a GREAT deal for a conference in Manhattan. I'll say that. If I were a college student, it would easily be worth eight pizzas. But a lot of stuff can happen in a year, especially with the VIX at 30 and the proletariat camping in Zucotti Park.
@NR - haha...I think I prefer hand-gliding. think of how much extra "skin lotion" he could buy if he signed up at the current ridiculously low price. Whether we are talking about hang-gliding or hand-gliding, the choice is obvious.
