Have a super rich family member that provides deal flow, you'll be untouchable.

If that's not possible, be: timely (early), attentive (attention to deal, look interested), good attitude, normal human being, don't fuck up.

It's pretty simple at most places, just don't be a mutant. I know you're conditioned to think an internship means you've made it but the truth is that interns aren't very useful.

Your main goal is to just make it to an offer, don't try to overshoot and impress anyone (especially not senior leadership - they couldn't care any less and you'll likely be seen as obtuse or annoying if you bother them), just get the job done and be someone seen to be competent.

1. Be normal, friendly, and not weird.

2.. Show genuine interest in the work and ask questions that show you're thinking critically.

3. Be on time and if you're staying late be sure to ask if anyone needs help with their work

4. Don't make the same mistake twice

5. Don't ask stupid questions you can get the answer to by spending time on Google

If you do all of this, you will be in the top 5% of interns without a doubt.
