Just got RO from top BB (GS/MS/JPM) -- Here's some KEY advice

Very fortunate to get the RO this summer -- I truly believe that if you just put your head down and grind HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF.  Personally, I had the odds stacked against me.  I not only come from the eastern side of Greenwich (slightly less affluent), but the boarding school that I went to had a much leaner finance network than most others.  Regardless of these possibly major setbacks, I decided to click my heels and get to work in the internship. I never really tuned into any of the modeling stuff (I interned in M&A, but I personally find Excel to be slightly beneath me), however I turned my focus to something much more impactful: NETWORKING.  I would grind every single lunch break in my MD's office, tearing it up on the practice putting green, making those connections, and sinking those puts.  It was also pretty helpful bc my MD happened to be my Dad's mentee, but I was able to make a really strong connection with him through the sole efforts of my charm.

I really think this internship taught me how I to communicate with people more senior than me, and how interlocking the grip on the putter feels more natural.  Lastly, I just want to say that the power of networking doesn't just stop at the RO, it lingers in benefits all across the office.  Because of the network I had built internally, I was able to work ~35 hours per week, and received 3 weeks PTO in my internship to travel abroad (if you've never gone yachting on the Amalfi Coast, I definitely recommend you do).  Ultimately, receiving this return offer means much more than just a reward to my grind, but also a testament to what anyone can achieve if they just apply yourself. Anything is possible!
