You're already really late in the process. Most internship recruiting cycles at large banks are already over. At this point, it would be best to contact boutique firms in your area, asking if they are still hiring for the summer analyst positions. Read up some WSO guides or M&I guides to prepare yourself for the interviews. Best of luck.
If you don't land anything worthwhile, you might want to look into Duke's MMS, UVA's Masters of Commerce, or a well regarded Masters in Finance program to rebrand yourself because although you have a decent GPA, you're going against people who went to top schools, with even higher GPAs, and majored in economics or finance in which they took classes that relate to the job. You get dinged out the gate with having a History degree, they think you know nothing about finance.
You're pretty much in the same boat as I was. I'm an OU Alum, class of 2012. CS Major.
There are almost 0 firms in Michigan that you can start at, especially with a history major. You really need to network your butt off. Talk to every single person in Michigan, go to the career fairs for OU and other schools. Anything you possibly can to get your face in front of someone else's in the industry.
Lou is right on being too late for BB recruiting, but there aren't any of those in MI that you'd work at anyways. You'll also probably have to offer your services for free as a lot of the places that I talked to in MI only hire on an as needed basis and that isn't very often.
It's not M&A but it is finance related. Try to contact some people at Conway McKenzie. They're a fairly big restructuring firm in Birmingham and they do all their internships out of that office but have locations in NYC and I think Texas and Chicago and LA if I'm not mistaken.
Since this will likely be your first step, your internship doesn't necessarily need to be M&A, but it can be something in the finance field to at least let future employers know you're serious.
I eventually moved out to NYC with a job in IT as it was easier to get a job in that with CS major than a finance job. I figured if I lived here it'd be easier to get a job that trying to find one from Michigan. I now work in commodities trading but I work next to a guy who does his own Investment Banking Advisory stuff and through him, once I finish my MBA he thinks he should be able to get me a position in IB or even hire me himself.
So I'm not taking a direct route like some people get, but that's because I didn't go to a target school and majored in finance. But that's ok. I'll get there.

Also, find some ways to display your interest in finance on your resume to make up for your unrelated major/classes. At this point, you're gonna have to hustle to find something good for the summer. GL
