Sluggish, Narcissistic, and Extremely Entitled Millennial Checking In

Hi All,

I'm a freshman at Penn State majoring in finance. I came from a solid high-school where, as I now realize, I had very good chances to get into an Ivy if I had put some more work into school instead of sports and other things. Some inferiority-complex part of me always thought HYP etc. was for "other" people, but I'll save that talk for a therapist once I can afford one :) . I'm hard working, though, and spent the past summer working 65+ hours a week and loved it, and I plan on doing the same this summer (full-time job + landscaping business). So anyways, I've got a bit of a chip on my shoulder about my past academic performance and I'm on a crusade to do as best as I can here at PSU and keep as many doors open as possible.

As to my ambitions, I'm one of those smart people who completely lacks any sort of passion for a particular career. I always envied those Jane Goodall and marine biologist types who spend their days chillin with chimps and whales, making almost nothing but loving their jobs, that's definitely not me, but I almost wish it were! Anyone else ever think that? I've got no discernible passion career-wise for anything other than making as much money as possible.... who knows, maybe modeling leveraged buyouts in Excel is God's plan for me.

So anyways, I'm playing the field when it comes to careers. I'm learning as much as I can about finance through this and other sites, and I'm also very interested in law. Long-long term I'm like to be my own boss (i.e. start a company), but I think it best to have a few years of real-world experience working first. It's hard to find problems to solve when you're living in the bubble that is State College (although I'm always looking).

2. How you found WSO
Not sure... seems like the place to be for people interested in finance and it's pretty hard to miss from any finance-related Google search.

3. What you hope to get out of your membership
With all the above being said, I am a millennial, and therefore I expect WSO and it's community to hand me a BB banking job on a silver platter, one that I'll stay at for 9 months tops. My parents do a good job of reminding me how special I am, so even though it's not the norm, I expect to work 45, maybe 50 hours a week, *max*, and six-figures for sure, seven figures by my mid 20s. Definitely don't want to wake up before noon to go to work, and I have no plans on listening to what other people say just because they've got a bit 'o grey hair. I'm an individual, I'm special, and the world owes me a lot. Now, this silver spoon in my mouth is making it difficult to talk, so I'll have to leave it at that. Oh, and positive, esteem-boosting comments only please, absolutely no criticism. (Are we really that bad?)

OP can stop being a troll. go back to learning how to do a proper DCF (no cheatsheets plz). the blind and dumb leading the blind and naiive isn't helping as it is.

dude plz drop the enormous grudge you're holding...now you're just full out ripping on an entire generation and trolling the site. it's getting old and the whole entire world doesn't need to be dragged into your life's sh*t. not a good look.

The scary part is only ~30 of her MS are from me.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

OP, it's sad that your small-minded thinking and disgusting ways are having such a negative impact on the lives of your underlings. It's even more disgusting that you're now passing their ability to think critically as your own while shoving all the wrong misguided advice you spread around under the rug. You enjoy stepping back and watching them deal with the shitstorm you've created. Atleast own up to it.

Love the humor. I found WSO when I started getting serious about breaking into a BB here in Atlanta. It has been tremendously helpful.
