Somewhat unrelated to your topic, but relevant to life: it is imperative that you stop blaming other people for things. Even if it really is "their fault." The truth is that we can always control where we go and what we do; there's some kid out there who was in your exact position, but either told his advisor to fuck off, or took the classes and busted his ass to ace them anyway, or decided to get informed fast as hell so that he could know what he wanted to do as a freshman. Challenge yourself to be in control.

My advice, as someone who was in a very similar position as you and who thought about the same double-major and minoring, etc. paths: get the fuck out of school as fast as you can. A low GPA can be worked around. Learn the relevant accounting skills yourself, as a few classes won't teach you that, and get relevant internship experience to make yourself a viable candidate for jobs.

I'll cut the second bit of advice to just the most important bit: graduate right now. Forget more schooling.

in it 2 win it

It's really annoying when kids blame their club activities for their shitty grades. Gtfoh with that. You have a 2.8 and think that you are made for a research role because you took some relevant classes ? How about some real world experience that proves you're interested in a research analyst role. How about a reality check ? You haven't hit the pavement yet. That's your problem. You sound like an entitled brat. It's easy to stay inside a campus to take a class and join a club because quite fucking frankly , it doesn't take any effort. The kids that market their coursework and club activities as a way to show people they're qualified are idiots. Everyone takes the same courses and a club doesn't mean shit to a person smart enough because they'll filter out that bullshit. You'll lose to someone who's hungrier and is 4 internships deep. Now go fucking put some work in

Alright. Well this didn't really get the reception I wanted.

Basically all I want to know was how bad does a 5 year plan work and should I try to twist it in any way.

Obviously a guy with great grades and lots of experience will look better than me. Nothing I can do about that other than market myself the best I can and push for something better. @ OGOFNYC, you actually sound like a entitled punk for trying to shit on someone who is just trying to find their way. If I would have been more prepared, responsible, and driven when I started college this would be a different conversation, youre right. You don't know me, and I actually have some decent experience for a research analyst role from extra curricular projects and club activities that have gone a long way in interviews. Also, I had bad grades my first 2 years but I have gotten them up in the last few semesters... if you arent going to offer any good advice keep it to yourself

Do yourself a favor and graduate. Focus on getting relevant experience and networking. Look into a MSF.

You pretty much need a 3.0 to get into grad school, so maybe take an extra semester or a couple summer classes and just fill it with GPA boosters. Go to ratemyprofessor.com, ask friends for the easiest class they took, whatever. I also learned rather late that there's a whole game to finding the easiest possible classes, and it really doesn't add much work at all to your typical 6-9 credits in major + 3-6 moderately important credits. I got a 3.6 this past semester taking 2 stat classes, an econ class, a math class, and 2 electives (18 credits), easily .3 higher than I would've got without the GPA boosters.

Depends on the club. I've been in engineering clubs (that compete in national/international competitions), and you're spending at least 10, usually 15+ hours a week designing/building a Formula 1-style vehicle. How bad was your school or your extracurriculars, if you didn't have employers recruiting from the club members? Like this must be a 3rd Tier school thing, right? If you joined the 1 hour a week, sit down and do nothing clubs.. sure, you have a point.

hey, im having fun doing this at my BB IBD internship. what are you doing with your life? keep sucking your university off. i attend a top tier and no i never took advantage of my clubs. if your clubs are so good, why haven't you taken advantage of them? why is your situation so fucked up? how are you in the shithole yet still defensive? i have a bb ibd sa, bb s&t sa, boutique ibd, and a MM PE internship all on my resume. what do you have? the nerve of this cocksucker. lets see where that double major and attitude gets you. godspeed.

you came on here looking for sympathy and validation. if you didn't want to get REAL advice, you shouldn't have came on here. i told you what you need to do. i don't shit on people if they truly want help. you fucked your college years over and are solely relying on a double major to make you competitive. guess what? it won't. go get a backoffice job and work your way up. i told you to hustle and it hurt your feelings. you want shit easy.

i guess typing on the phone makes me "sound" stupid. pretty funny how you have a 2.8 and still have the nerve to call me unintelligent. how funny is that?

I don't have a gf , I never had one , never needed one. I got 9 hoes I'm fucking right now, why wife them ? I share the hoes tho.

Look , everyone needs a spanking. You need a spanking to get some hunger. I'm trying to bring that for you. I don't want to coddle you. If you really want this , you'll get it. Stay up and bust your ass. Pm me if you have any questions.
