2045 Initiative

Have you heard of Dmitry Itskov? I donate almost half of my monthly earnings to his project, the '2045 initiative'.

It's the only hope that's keeping me alive. If the avatar projects fail, I don't know what I'll do.

What do you monkeys think of the 2045 Initiative as a solution to extend life?

Why live longer? 80-odd years is enough.

And think of the intergenerational problems that will be caused by people living longer.

It was with those words that we, and the rest of the world, knew immediately that you're a psychopath.

When you die, you don't have fun. You don't not have fun. You're just not. What a relief from the burdens of existence, like fretting about immortality or how much money you burned chasing empty promises that cashed in your fear of nothingness.

Agree 100%.

By the time you die and become some brain-transferred hologram avatar, the internet will have become a self-aware.

Given around 80-90% of the internet is porn, it will likely be a sexually depraved tentacled demon existing in the virtual world, most likely dressing your electronic holographical avatar in a Japanese schoolgirl's uniform and having its way with you.

LOL. I think it's probably approaching closer to 99%. Maybe your avatar can hide out in the Deep Web.

Is that statistic really real? Like, how is over half of the net porn? That's fucking absurd.

Is avatar suicide an option? If not, add that to the riskiness of what you're doing.

@"SSits" why? as technology improves and economy develops, the globe can sustain more people at higher standard of living and all crime will decrease. also, people will retire later as life expectancy increases.

No, it can't. There're arguably too many people as it is and with limited resources coupled with the fact that, quite frankly, people don't get along with each other that much, Malthusian theory would come to life pretty quickly.

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for freedom of thought which they seldom use.

I think you underappreciate the impact of intergenerational wealth transfer, or lack of it due to people living longer.

Right, I guess within the greater scheme of technology, science and medicine that all ideas are feasible and plausible. Medicine is certainly now cloning, and growing new organs out RNA. I guess there could always be a successful development.

Crazier than believing " Bernie Mad(e)off with your cash" when he was the president of the NASDAQ. Brain translpants are currently impossible.

I know I'd like to live forever, but I still think it's stupid beyond belief for you to donate half of your earnings to this thing. Do you think your donations will really have that much of an impact?

The site says that 34237 people have already enrolled, but I doubt that many people have deposited the 3M+ for an avatar. Maybe that figure is how many people have donated, I'm not sure.

Sounds borderline illegal... $3 million?!

How wide can you make your face on this avatar? I'm planning on a face that is at least a whole foot wide with my eyes just on top of my lips. I'll pay extra for that.

Planning a comeback? It's the height:width ratio that did you in the first time.
