3 Months Off - How to spend time?

Hey guys,

I recently accepted a PE associate offer beginning in S2021. I'm planning on quitting my current job 3 months before my eventual start date and taking some time to do / learn something cool. I'd love to hear your ideas on how to spend this time, COVID notwithstanding. I'll probably try and do multiple different things during this period.

I'm a single 24 year old male.

Some things I'm interested in: -Golf or martial arts boot camp (I haven't really done either of these things, but would like to learn - has anyone ever heard of something like this, even if it's only 1-2 weeks?) -Practical cooking class -Cool volunteer opportunities

Not interested in (already done these): -Backpacking through SE Asia -Language courses

Thanks for the help in advance, looking forward to hearing what you guys think

You could do martial arts boot camp through your local MMA gym. Just take all their classes. Literally. You're probably going to be putting in 1hr in the mornings and 3hrs at night. Your diet will begin to revolve around this heavy activity and after 90 days, you will look like Bruce Lee.

The first day is the hardest. Have fun.

Mainly, I would advise a combination of:

-Muay Thai

-BJJ

Agreed. For personal fitness one of those body challenge programs like our gym used to run is some of the best you can get. If you’re still young you can actually out train a bad diet while you’re on the program.

If that’s not your style PM me if you want to move to Cali and practice street karate with me, as I’m currently seeking an apprentice.

Also, you could get a trainer and Zwift and take up full time cycling while volunteering.

I personally would want to travel but this depends on how much cash you have and COVID. I personally would want to go on a tour through Europe but not one of those tours that takes like two weeks but takes you to a dozen countries (obviously not you have like 3 months). If you had to stay home, I would do the MMA stuff people mentioned or maybe start a blog or YouTube channel of some sort.

Try starting your own business, or at least lay the foundation work for later if you decide you may want to start your own thing. That could mean just learning how to set up a functional e-commerce website and how the gears work behind digital marketing. You’ll get to see a lot of different businesses in addition to what you saw in consulting. Who knows what may inspire you to give something your own shot?

Picking up the Swiss knife skill set while working PE hours is fucking hard, and you’ll thank yourself down the road should you find an idea you can now quickly test and potentially execute on.

I’m also projecting, because it’s my long term goal to build my own business and IB hours did nothing but cap my ability to get my feet under me. What should have taken weeks to learn took a year as I found pockets of free time, and I recently ditched IB altogether to solely focus on my own venture.
