Ackman tweet about DEI and recent events at Harvard

Where do we even begin. Harvard's lackluster returns? Diversity BS finally getting pointed out? Reverse racism?

Absolute baller essay imo

Ackman spoke to my class when I was in business school. He didn't have any prepared remarks. Just answered questions for over an hour. Super smart, insanely articulate, confident. Just an impressive guy.

I'm so happy that people are finally realizing the discriminatory vile nature of DEI.

Yeah agreed, except his calling out of cancel culture is a little hypocritical given he supported cancelling every pro-palestine student org at Harvard

No, he called for blacklisting students who signed a declaration that circulated amongst said pro-palestine student groups that expressly endorsed the 10/7 attacks and called for the end of Israel. Members of those student groups then claimed they hadn't known the details of what they signed because it had been passed around by student leadership and that they were just pro-palestine. Good lesson for them to learn that they should know what they're signing before putting their name on it.

Could hardly see it a loss to the finance community since many of those students overlap with the woke crap that actively tries to cancel everyone else - there's nothing honorable about trying to be fair with people that would never extend you the same courtesy. That attitude is why the Republican party is largely filled with losers. Better to go for the jugular when someone's made it clear they're not your ally, look how effective it was with the Harvard president.

Post this declaration. I don't believe it exists.

Post this declaration. I don't believe it exists.

Feel free to use google if you want search for it. I believe there was a summary in one of their student publications then the Harvard Crimson shortly thereafter published that a handful of the organizations that signed/endorsed it quickly withdrew their support because of the near immediate backlash. It's what he's referencing in this part of his twitter essay linked in the OP "when 34 Harvard student organizations, early on the morning of October 8th before Israel had taken any military actions in Gaza, came out publicly in support of Hamas, a globally recognized terrorist organization, holding Israel ‘solely responsible’ for Hamas’ barbaric and heinous acts."

You made the claim so I expected you to present the evidence. But of course you won't because it doesn't exist. You're just here to spread propaganda. No student org endorsed the attacks and none called for the end of Isreal. The pro-Palestine student orgs did place blame on the attacks on the Israeli govt for running an apartheid state and oppressing the Palestines - which they do and those human rights violations are well documented regardless of how anyone who speaks against it is labeled anti-semite. With that said, the statement did not expressly endorse the attacks as you posted - that's bullshit. Nor did it call for the end of Israel - also bullshit.

Ackman has been spreading this propaganda because he's a Zionist who labels anything anti-zionism as anti-semitism, which is bullshit. Stop spreading propaganda and outright lying to support your narratives. Ackman and others are using the power of the purse to silence criticism against Zionism, both on and off campuses. To the point where they are attempting to paint legitimate criticisms against the Israeli govt as racism against Jews. The ADL expressly defines anti-zionism as anti-semitism which lets you know all you need to about how seriously they should be taken as an organization. It's disgusting and the world won't fall for that okey doke.

I fucking love Ackman. I always considered him a sharp guy from his finance-related interviews. I love him even more now with this essay.

Couple things I'd argue with him about, but I thought it was a thoughtfully written tweet, particularly the bolded section of "equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity," which is a mentality that even I, your friendly neighborhood WSO liberal, strongly object to.

I will say though that colleges have been a disaster and not reflective of the real world for decades. I'm old enough to remember "safe spaces" in school where "triggering" ideas and "micro aggressions" overruled intelligent exchanges of ideas, but none of that exists in reality. Your real world life experience is almost certainly mixed, with friends and coworkers on either side of the political or cultural aisle, and you somehow manage to get along just fine.
