Analysts/Associates own a dog?
Curious if any young guns out there also take care of a pet?
I have a golden retriever and always find time to take him out get him exercise. I'm not NYC IB though... So I'm sure I'm "privileged" in that sense.

I don't think it's responsible unless you are living with family or have a lot of room mates and it's a "house dog". It won't really get enough attention if you're at the office 70+ hours a week.
I have a Doberman and he requires tons of exercise, but I work remotely full time (just my agreement not from covid).
Definitely wouldn’t recommend a dog unless you’re around most of the time or have a spouse who is.
bring the dog to the office if he can crank an LBO
I always grew up anti-cat...they skeeved me out... but it was a package deal with my (now) wife. I had dogs and still look forward to getting a dog someday but... I absolutely love this cat- so much less work than a dog- can basically be left alone for up to 48-72 hours. She is adorable and their personalities are really something once you've spent enough time interacting with them.
I think I could have handled having a cat during my Analyst years but it's not fair to a dog unless you have someone else to share the care duties with you given the unpredictable hours you will be working (usually in the office under normal circumstances obviously).
Got 2 Samoyeds at home. Have to wake up 30 minutes earlier to walk them, and have a lint roller at my desk.
Unless you are bringing the dog to some sort of doggy daycare or dog-sitter to have one as a single person who works 70+ hours.
Not yet but as soon as I find a way out of this rat race ill get a garden and a dog (prob a golden or a aussie shepherd - amazing dogs)
