I got a nice L shaped leather couch from Ikea - it was $2K.

Why do you need a new couch and have to spend thousands of dollars on it? I don’t even own a couch and wouldn’t recommend it. I sit on a chair at my table and it works fine, chairs are better for your posture anyways and you’d go soft for sitting on a couch all day.

Chicks like couches. Where are guests supposed to sit?

On the lower-end, IKEA & Wayfair have some genuinely great options that won't break the bank. Doesn't feel like sitting on a cloud, but most people don't need that those two websites offer more choices than you'll know what to do with. Figure out the parameters you want (cushion feel, color, shape, profile, etc.) and just keep browsing until you find the one. There's so many options it can be overwhelming!

My wife and I purchased our first 'fancy' couch about seven months ago, and the quality upgrades are genuinely wild. I never really thought there'd be a difference between lower-and upper-end furniture pieces, but the design, build quality, durability, and comfort are magnified. You cannot go wrong with West Elm, Raymour, CB2, or any of those, but we opted for a Rove Concepts Dresden in the Stockholm finish. The membership option saved us nearly $2K - never thought I'd be a furniture member, but we have 2-3 other pieces from them and the savings are immediate.

Greatest couch I've ever had. Naps are awesome.

Anyone purchase one from Facebook before

My buddies and I moved into a 4BR NYC pad with a massive living room and bought a large L shaped black leather couch for only $1K (Craigslist) and it was originally worth maybe $7K. It was in pristine shape, we looked at it before we bought it.

If you are in an area that has a ReStore near a vacation area that has a lot of summer rentals, go take a look. Theres one on Cape Cod in Yarmouth for example, tons of homes change out there furniture after a year or two of rentals due to changing styles. Rent the houses for a ton and do it again. Friend just moved from Boston to a big house in the south shore and needed a ton of nonapartment furniture and got RH and West Elm furniture for like a third of the price. Only 1-2 years old and since a summer rental it was only really 8 months of use. Now yes, many people treat them like crap, but the Restores have qualifications for the condition.

It's operated by Habitat for Humanity, so your area could go under another name.
