Apartments are cheaper in Tudor City because it's so far. It's generally the area around 30-40's and 1st. The closest subway is on 3rd or Lex, so everything is a bit of a walk away. So if you're willing to walk 5 or 6 blocks in the winter, then you can probably get a place for $100 cheaper.
