I use Spotify and have been since 2017. I enjoy it a lot, and the price is reasonable imo. I have over 4k songs liked, and it’s cool to scroll through and remember memories from those time periods in my life.
I’ve never used Apple Music. Spotify also has Joe Rogan. The past few months I’ve had issues which led me to deleting and downloading the app a few times which is annoying, but for the vast majority of the last 5 years, Spotify has been great
I've used Spotify for years and use it every day. Best 10 dollars I spend a month. I've never used Apple Music, but I'm sure it's fine. I'm just not an Apple fanboy.
My watch uses Spotify, but I also use Apple Music and Pandora without ads.

I use Spotify because of the better recommendation algorithm for finding cool new music. I believe they have the larger music catalogue as well but not 100% sure on that.

90% of new music I discover comes from Discover Weekly or Release Radar, those two (paired w/ Daily Mixes and/or song-specific radios) are enough to sell it for me. I'm sure Apple has something similar, but I'd honestly be listening to the same 20 songs without the aforementioned mixes. I'm over 3K+ songs liked now, it's been a godsend.

Downloading as a FLAC in this case is fairly pointless and a waste of space - the audio file was already compressed (again, likely from an already compressed format to begin with) when uploaded to YT. You're just avoiding an extra level of compression, which if you're already listening to a lossy audio file is negligible vs. using a 320 kbps bit rate conversion. You're taking up excess space on your phone for no noticeable benefit (unless you're maybe listening through a luxury audio system that can actually create enough soundstage and maintain enough artifacts to notice the extra compression).
If you actually care about high-quality audio and fidelity, just get Tidal and use wired headphones. If you're using Bluetooth headphones, this entire conversation is pointless to begin with lol. Well at least until the true lossless Bluetooth codec is made available on new phones with Qualcomm chips later this year, but then you'll also need BT headphones that support the codec.
Yeah I'm a Spotify person all the way as well, for similar reasons as people above have mentioned. Content recommendation is great...many user-created playlists out there already...and i just like the interface a lot and have really gotten used to it.

I have used apple music for the last 6 or 7 years and randomly received a free two month spotify trial which I’ve been using last couple weeks.
Definitely switching over to spotify.

I have used both and feel like the sound quality is better on Apple Music, but have stuck with Spotify for the recommendations
None... waste of money. I use Youtube to Mp3
Lame
What is this 2009?
No. I believe in the motto "Go Woke, Go Broke."
Yes, I do pay for artists that I support, but those are far in between.
I’m frugal too but $10/month for all the music you could ever want at that level of convenience is a good deal

The Musi app is free and just as good for my musical purposes.
Yeah I’m a fan of Musi but only use it for songs that aren’t on Spotify
Tidal
