Bear Market Predictions

Some people are buying on the dips while others expect more down side and are waiting on the sidelines. Anyone have a prediction as to what the total drop will be for the S&P 500 from its high? I do not have a crystal ball, but I think this downturn could be worse than in 2008/2009, which would mean a greater than 50% decline. At its current rate, it might happen sooner rather than later. Liker other bear markets, at some point, this could be a great buying opportunity.

I agree with you that a pullback is imminent. The two-thousand publicly traded companies which represent "small capitalization" firms in the U.S. are now collectively worth 11.4% more than they were at their pre-covid all-time highs in January, and worth 20% more than they were a month ago before the spike in covid cases and renewed lockdowns...this is implied from the record close yesterday on the Russell 2000.
