Lots of good barbershops but I go to the Fantail in Little Portugal.
I lived in Toronto but moved after graduating college. I'd suggest going to Town Barbers - this is a great barber shop with friendly service and at affordable prices. I have had multiple cuts from several different barbers there and everyone of them has been completely satisfying. This place is really a part of the neighborhood scene, and as far as I know, predates a lot of the latest hipster-barbershop bloom. The new location on Queen is even closer to where I used to live and one of the most welcoming ones.
I always went to Maya in Koreatown.
Not sure how it compares to others but I've found Sloane Rangers to be reliable and easily accessible in the PATH if you work DT. $45 a cut with tax & tip included. Ask for a guy named Fernando.
