I feel like the only New Yorker who prefers Sausage, Egg, and Cheese (SEC) haha.
Forgot the place but the best morning bagel I ever had was in Miami. Can't think of any NYC standouts. Any legit bodega will give you a solid 7.5-8 one though.
I actually came on this thread specifically to comment about preference for a SEC too and saw you beat me to the punch
Big agree, bacon is good but overemphasized. It's great on a BLT, but on something like a bagel I feel like most places make it too crunchy and it just gets lost in the sandwich. Sausage is the way to go.
Or just go to New Jersey and get Porkroll, Egg, & Cheese

Love sunny & Annie's, used to live a couple blocks away and would drop by multiple times a week
Sunny and Annie’s is awesome, but not the spot for Bacon Egg and Cheese.
My two favorites: Nom! in the Village and M&O Market in SoHo. Both excellent spots. Nom! has the better BEC, M&O has their SoHo Sandwich that’s just delightful.
I’ve never had a bad meal from Sunny and Annie’s though, that place is top tier
Bread and Honey on 8th was fantastic... I used to work at columbus circle and they had fantastic BEC's and generally incredible deli products. Also a fire hot bar for breakfast with good scrambled egg and incredible sausage. Last time I visited was prior to covid and I switched jobs between so I prob won't go back there unless I have a meeting at columbus circle in the AM given I work in midtown east and live in soho/tribeca.
