If you want the best coffee, based on quality of beans/taste, go to Ethiopia. Helps that a cup costs less than $0.25 USD.
Any recommendations for midtown area? Been drinking a lot of Starbucks recently since its next to my office but I'm guessing thats probably not the best place.
where in midtown? Zibetto is good, Culture espresso is better but further south into 30s? Tobeys estate in urbanspace vanderbilt is solid, irving farms inside grand central is an all time favorite aswell

Dude, Krispy Kreme doughnuts with a coffee are the bomb.
In London there is this small chain of Italian cafes called La Bottega. Only place I've found in London that makes proper Espresso - only thing is they have two shops in South Kensington and Belgravia so far from the City or Canary Wharf but worth the detour if you work in Mayfair.
Benugo is fairly good or a breakfast in Central London
Black Sheep Coffee (London), I love the coffee there
Workshop Coffee on Mortimer Street. They have a few spots in London covering the West End and City.
