wowwwww amazing

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

This specific concert has a pretty notorious reputation in Boston because several dozen people went a little too hard and ended up taking some trips to Mass General. I think security at concerts at TD was like permanently increased since then lol.

Dayman?

Jaden Smith and Young Thug were also unreal on that tour. I saw him back in ATL so they brought out TI and a bunch of other ATL rappers. Incredibly hype concert

Saw Santana and actually was one of the worst concerts that I've seen. He has to have other singers for his late 90s hits so it sort of sounded like a good cover band doing Santana songs....

This is hard.

Seeing Laidback Luke at Webster Hall in NYC. I don't remember ever having so much fun at a show.

Moonrise festival in Maryland. People were just so friendly and chill there. Unreal atmosphere.

Loved EDC when it was still in NYC.

Porter Robinson (when he played normal edm) and during his worlds tour when he made everything from scratch. The visuals and vibe was off the charts.

Alesso in 2013-2014 had some of the best music he ever created, and seeing his stuff live was amazing.

I love it, I've been 3 times and it's always great. One time there was a storm scare while I was peaking so I thought I was going to pass out in the stands.

bucket list - pink floyd (gilmour, fuck roger)

my dad's friend who saw them in the 70s said they flew a model plane into the stage as part of the performance, is that true? I would kill to have been able to seen them and Led Zeppelin.

I'm heavily considering going to that with some friends. Shit is slow around labor day for us and we all think it's worth it. Gotta live a little, right?

Dayman?

Moonrise in Baltimore for that nasty heavy EDM, roughing it out in Pimlico.

Nicolas Jaar at U Street Music Hall and Brooklyn Steel

Bon Iver at an amphitheater in Philly

Yeah, really sucks. RIP ESL while we're at it. I don't live in DC anymore but if Flash goes too that will be a sad day.

Either John Mayer at MSG or Dave Matthew’s in Virginia Beach, more of a Dave guy but John Mayer in MSG was incredible

I'm a huge fan of 1980s pop culture, and I'm going to a Pet Shop Boys/New Order concert in September. It should be a lot of fun, as long as Covid doesn't get it cancelled.

Bro I had New Order tickets for August 2020...

Some of my favorites over the past few years.

  • Kaskade redux set (first time rolling)
  • Odesza - A Moment Apart Finale in LA
  • Gesaffelstein @ Coachella 2015
  • Rufus @ Coachella
  • The National @ Sydney Opera House
  • ZHU surprise do lab set @ Coachella

Separately, anyone going to Ubbi Dubbi in three weeks? Just got vaccinated and think I'm gonna send it

Oh dear.

Not one CONCERT, but one venue...Toads Place (New Haven).  Best place in America to see a concert.  That includes CBGB, Wetlands Preserve, Whiskey a go-go, Webster Hall, Red Rocks, The Ryman, Hollywood bowl, etc.

In a four year period... and I saw them all...I missed many, many other shows including Springsteen, Billy Joel, the Stones...

  • Bob Dylan, Phish, Black Crowes, Concrete Blonde, Johnny Cash, Alice in Chains, Iggy Pop, Ramones, Living Colour, BB King, Blue Öyster Cult, Meatloaf, Run DMC, Spin Doctors, James Taylor, Procol Harum, Violent Femmes, Joan Jett, Jefferson Starship, Ice Cube, Matthew Sweet, Poi Dog Pondering, Sophie B Hawkins, Public Enemy, Tori Amos, Bon Jovi, Johnny Clegg and Savuka, Asia, Foreigner, The Kinks, George Thorogood & the Destroyers , Marc Cohn, Sheryl Crow, Big Country, Cheap Trick, Tom Jones, The Cranberries
Namaste. D.O.U.G.

Outsidelands 2014, first summer back from college and got the high school gang back together. Kanye's set was unreal and rolling to Flume's performance on a picture perfect SF afternoon was dreamy. Good memories and makes me miss live music events that brings everyone together like that. Rest of line-up was one of the better ones I've seen too, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, Atmosphere, etc.

Honorable mention to Beach House for their Depression Cherry tour. Mellow vibes but love their music.

saw Flume in less ideal circumstances than that and it was still sick, I can only imagine how that must have been. Outsidelands is in Golden Gate Park, right?

Been to a few really great ones. In order of attendance:

  1. Been to Jazz Fest in New Orleans a few times - always a killer time.
  2. At a festival I saw Drop Kick Murphys and Coolio (I know, weird combo). But of course enjoyed very much.
  3. Went to see Passion Pit. Great small indie band called Slenderbodies opened and stole the show imo.
  4. Went to Astroworld - absolutely blacked out and don't remember anything. Apparently Shek Wes and Travis killed it though.
  5. Modest Mouse. Not a huge fan but was a generally good time.
  6. Saw a "songs and talk" with a handful of leads from 2000s bands - Fountains of Wayne, Eve 6, Marcy's Playground, etc. They basically talked about their creative processes, how they wrote their songs, and sang a few songs acoustic. Not quite a concert, but a really cool experience.
  7. Hit up a JID concert. Saba opened and it was super wild - this was probably the best I've been to. Great interaction with fans, crazy lights, and amazing talent.
  8. 21 Savage - exactly what you'd expect. Very hype.
  9. Saw Beck and Cage the Elephant. Both are bands I've enjoyed for a while and was really excited to get the opportunity to see them both.

Some less good ones I've been to:

  1. Iron Maiden - they actually kicked ass. But I'm not a big fan of their music and went to hang with a friend. Pretty entertaining though.
  2. MadeinTYO - homie literally stood on the stage while music played. Literally 0 effort. Crowd was pissed.
  3. Rich the Kid - he missed his flight. However, NLE Choppa opened right before he blew up, so I guess that was cool.

Been to 75+ concerts and music festivals...

Best Festival: 2016 ACL (Drake, Foo Fighters, Bassnectar, Tame, A$AP Rocky, Chance, Twenty One Pilots, Glass Animals, Disclosure, The Weeknd, etc)

Best Festival Set: Red Hot Chili Peppers at 2017 Bonnaroo (made it into the pit and they absolutely rocked like nothing I had ever seen before)

Best Concert: George Strait at Gillette Stadium in 2019 (The king lived up to his name and having Blake Shelton as the warm-up act was an added bonus)
