Real Estate Fridays

Best office perk is getting paid above market. Second best is beer on tap.

I had an interview for a CFO position in Silicon Alley in NYC and they had a keg at the office and people were drinking beer at their desks - super chill environment. I wrote a three page strategic analysis of the company to the CEO and he really liked it, but I didn’t get the job, partly because I overdressed and should have just worn Vans, jeans, and a hipster jacket instead of a full suit and tie as it was a ‘trendy’ ‘hip’ company.

They had a foosball table in there too.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

My new office has higher walls at the cubes which I actually don’t like because I talk to almost nobody when I’m in the office, but we have standing desks which is awesome.

Also have ridiculous amounts of food catered every day, and there’s a snack closet with nuts, chips, etc.

We’ve got soft drinks but I haven’t seen any alcohol besides some wine. Might get beers soon but I don’t casually drink anyway.

A job that requires me to come into the office needs to pay me a lot. When interviewing for jobs, the one job that was 5x a week in office paid 20% more than the others.
